Pastor

Welcome!

I want to thank you for your interest in First Baptist Church Soldotna. I am Brother Mike Davis, the pastor at FBC. I am blessed to have my wife, Alicia, and my children; Allison, Shawn, Gavin, Kylie, and Adelyn, walking beside me. We are all excited about God’s movement at First Baptist! The Lord is already moving, and I fully believe He will continue to do so for a long time!

While I am currently serving the Lord in Alaska, I am not native to Alaska. However, I must say that I am overjoyed with what I see so far! I was raised in an unchurched home in the small town of Murray, Kentucky. I called Murray my home from 1979-2017. In 2005, I was almost thirty years old, and in a very dark place. I did not know anything about the Lord, or His saving grace. One Sunday morning in January, I attended a church service due to an invitation from a friend and clearly heard the gospel of Jesus for the first time. I left that service feeling the conviction that I needed to be saved. The following Sunday I was saved! I was blessed to be part of a loving, serving, and biblically strong church, and I was mentored by several men in the church through prayer, bible study, and service. In 2008, I surrendered to God’s call for me to preach, and in 2014, I was called to my first staff position as an associate pastor over youth and children’s ministry. My first senior pastorate was in 2017, and I have been in that role since. I am excited about my call to First Baptist; a church I know God has great plans for!

I cannot introduce myself without telling you a little about my interests outside of church life. I love being outdoors hiking, hunting, or fishing. I also have a love for music and learning to play music. I have over twenty-five years of experience in construction, and I still love to work with my hands. When I have the time, I also like to work at home, making furniture and other small woodworking projects. I would love to meet you in person, and so would First Baptist Church Soldotna! We have a loving congregation that does not care how you dress, how much money you have, or what your social standing is. We care about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and bringing glory to God! Visitors at First Baptist, are wanted, are needed, and are loved!

God Bless you!

Brother Mike Anton Davis

Deacon

Hello, my name is Roger Wagner and I am happy to be serving as Deacon for First Baptist Church. I was saved when I was 8 years old. I have been serving at FBC for 4 years. My wife Mary Ann and I have been married for 55 years. I have three daughters and a son. We are grandparents to a passel of grands and great-grands! Before retiring, I enjoyed hunting and fishing. Now I enjoy Bible study, playing guitar during worship service and working around the church. I look forward to seeing you at First Baptist Church.

Youth Leadership

Hi, we are Thomas and Danielle Hibpshman the youth leaders of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna. Thomas was raised in the church with a knowledge and understanding of Gods word. However, Danielle did not find the Lord until her mid 20’s, as she grew up in a home where her father was a believer in Christ and her mother a non-believer. Together we share a deep love for the Lord, and strive to live our best each day as instructed according to the word.

We had been unsure of what Gods purpose was for each of us, until we became members of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna . Our journey together has given us the desire to accept the Lords calling to lead our youth. We are honored and excited to do this by guiding our youth through the Bible and encouraging them to live in this world, but not be of this world. As youth leaders here at FBCS we are not only here to support and guide our youth, but also to support and encourage their parents.

All youth ages 12-18 are welcome, please join us on Wednesday nights from 6pm-8pm for dinner, fun and most importantly learning Gods word and how to apply it in our daily lives.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Music Director

Hi, my name is Cheri Slone and I am the Music Director at First Baptist Church. I’m a life-long Alaskan, crazy fish woman and a grandmother to a passel of grands. My love for hymns runs deep in my soul as they are full of scripture and the word of God never returns void. As I realize we need more modern music, I am working to incorporate it into our worship time. Our worship team is made up of an eclectic and creative group. I don’t read a note of music and at times just wing it! Please join us anytime, we would love to have you!
